Ear Wax Removal FAQs
Everything Cardiff patients tend to ask before booking. Still not sure about something? Give us a call.
We are on the first floor at The Cardiff Chiropractors β Whitchurch Clinic, 57 Merthyr Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 1DD, just north of the city centre and easy to reach from across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Please note there is stair access only.
Microsuction removes wax using gentle suction and magnified vision, with no water β it is precise and suits most people, including those who cannot have irrigation. Irrigation uses a controlled flow of warm water to flush softened wax out. Your clinician chooses the safest method for you on the day.
It should not. Most people find it comfortable and are surprised how quick it is. With microsuction you will hear a soft whooshing sound, but there is normally no pain.
Where it is safe to do so, use olive oil drops twice a day for 2β4 days beforehand to soften the wax β this helps us clear everything in one visit. If you are unsure whether the drops are right for you, call us first and we will advise.
Yes. Carried out by trained clinicians with professional equipment, microsuction and irrigation are very safe. If we look and treatment is not needed, we will tell you honestly.
No referral is needed β you can book directly with us, and we usually have appointments available within days rather than the long waits people often face elsewhere.
It is Β£45 for one ear or Β£65 for both, for adults aged 18 and over, paid after your appointment by cash or card. If there turns out to be no wax to remove, a Β£25 consultation fee applies for the clinic time reserved for you.
